The uniquely talented Nova Scotian singer, songwriter Gabriel Minnikin, is a mainstay in the Maritime music scene. His sound is located in country music and has a rawness of passion that one would expect from the tradition, but Gabriel has a brand of Canadiana all of his own. Minnikin continues to dazzle with his outstanding musicianship, densely-woven melodies, and titilating lyricism. ’Sweet Nothings’ has soaring harmonies & poetic lyrics that both haunt and intrigue. Fantastic female vocals are consistent throughout Minnikin’s new album. Lovely layers of artists like Gabriel’s sister Ruth Minnikin, Terra Spencer, Alana Yorke, Kristen Hatt, & Mel Stone all provide rich depths of optimism alongside Gabriel’s sometimes gritty poetry.

The Mellotones’s own Jeffery Mosher, Jody Lyne with Robbie Crowell & David Christensen donate their mad brass and woodwind skills to the already dense recipe.

Matthew Duncunson on drums, Nick Lawrence on electric bass, Jason Keddy playing the  keys, and Greg Daniels on pedal steel are the meat and potatoes to this dangerously delicious band.
